Next week Group 2 will compete for 3 more positions in the Top 12 and the week after that Group 3 will compete for another 3 positions. So, we have to wait a couple weeks to find out if Stevie Wright will get a second chance in the Wildcard round. Making the Top 12 for American Idol Season 8 is much more difficult than previous years. Stevie Wright’s performance the other night would not have put her in a position where she might be off the show. Lets Hope she gets another chance.

Our worst fears are confirmed Stevie Wright has not made to Top 12 for Season 8’s American Idol This is really a sad day for Stevie Wright fans. Last night the votes came in for Group 1 and Stevie wasn’t one of the 3 to get through. Instead Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver have secured positions in the Top 12.
It really is a shame. Stevie is a very talented singer. Stevie Wright still might get a second chance in the Wildcard round, but it is way too early to tell. I just hope the judges reflect on what she can do. I hope they remember that their ‘advice’ helped produce Stevie’s worst performance.
Stevie Wright Talks with Ryan Seacrest
Early in the show Ryan Seacrest had an interview with Stevie where he asked, “last night was kind of tough for you. Especially being 16 in this competition. How are you holding up?”
Stevie replied, “I’m good. I think for me I’m just proud I’ve gotten this far. So whatever happens tonight, it will be good.”
Seacrest went on to ask, “What did you and your Mom talk about after the show last night?”
Stevie answers, “Well I think we were just kind of confused because I started out singing old stuff and they wanted me to be younger, so I tried singing a young song and they didn’t like that either. So now I’m just kind of confused.”
Who wouldn’t be confused by that. Well we are hoping for you Stevie. There is still the Wildcard round, and we all hope you get another chance.
Wright, Smith, and Boskovich aren’t through
Later on Stevie Wright, Brent Keith Smith, and Anne Marie Boskovich were all told to stand up, and they were all told at the same time that none of them were through to the Top 12.
Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver are in the TOP 12

Well there is no other way to put it. Stevie Wright did struggle a bit last night on American Idol. After taking the judges advice and picking a song that would make her sound a little younger. She sang Taylor Swift - You Belong to Me. The judges were all quick to criticize her performance. I think that is a little ridiculous. Stevie Wright has an incredibly powerful voice, and they want her to sing ‘I’m a happy teenager music’. Yet when she does that, and it doesn’t suit her all of the judges jumped all over her. She was only following the judges advice. I am positive she would not have picked that song if the judges didn’t try and ‘help’. I don’t think that just because Stevie Wright is young she should be singing that kind of teenage music. She is unique. She a young woman with a very mature voice.
Stevie Wright singing Taylor Swift
Before Stevie Wright sang she had an interview with Ryan Seacrest where she said, “This competition is really important to me, just because I’ve been wanting to do this since I was 9 when the show began, and it’s surreal now that I’m really here. I think I impressed all the judges except from Simon, I feel like he doesn’t like me ‘laughing’. From here on now I’m just trying to showcase myself where I’m just a young and bubbly 17 year old cause that’s who I really am. Tonight I’m singing ‘You belong to me’ by ‘Taylor Swift’. I thought it is really appropiate because it’s really young, and I thought it was a good choice for the first live show.”
Stevie Wright singing You Belong To Me
The one thing I can say is that Stevie Wright looked great! Her personality really shines through when she is singing. Will Stevie Wright’s performance be enough to get her through?? We will find out tonight.

Judges Comments
Randy Jackson said, “It was not hot for me man. I wasn’t feeling that really at all. That was really safe for you, and you’re much better than this song and this performance. If I had seen that the first time, I’m not sure you would be right there now”
Kara DioGuardi said, “We wanted you to be young, but you really picked a song that had nothing to do with you”.
Paul Abdul said, “It was just not the right song for you. The low range was a little to low for you. It just wasn’t the Stevie Wright we fell in love with”.
Simon Cowell, “Stevie it was terrible. I mean everything. The song was ok. You were out of tune. The good news is at least you got some experience from this, but there is zero chance for you to make it through to the next round after that”.
Let’s all hope that the viewers remember just what Stevie Wright can do, and that last night’s performance can be blamed on the judges. They were wrong, and Kara seemed to be the only one who showed any remorse about pushing Stevie Wright in the wrong direction. Regardless of what happens we know what Stevie Wright can do. If she doesn’t get through tonight or if she doesn’t get a Wildcard spot we can be sure that this is not the last we will hear from Stevie Wright.

Tomorrow night (February 17th) Group 1 of the Top 36 will begin their performances. Finally we will be able to vote. Stevie Wright is in Group 1 and she will be performing , along with the other 5 girls and the 6 guys in Group 1. On Wednesday 18th we will have the results show. 1 guys will get through and 1 girl and the next highest vote getter regardless of sex.How to Vote for Stevie
American Idol Season 8 has many changes from earlier seasons. This week we will be able to see if the changes are for the good or for the bad. This week 12 of the remaining 36 contestants will perform (Group 1). Tuesday night the 12 performers from Group 1 will perform and Wednesday night we will get the results.
Next week, (Group 2) will perform (6 guys, 6 girls), and the following week we will see (Group 3) perform (6 guys, 6 girls).
So, tomorrow (Tuesday 17th): THE GUYS: Danny Gokey, Stephen Fowler, Ricky Braddy, Brent Keith Smith, Michael Sarver, Anoop Desai, THE GUYS: Stevie Wright, Jackie Tohn, Anne Marie Boskovich, Alexis Grace, Tatiana Del Toro will perform.
Finally we get to voice our opinion. It is time to vote, and we need to vote. Only 1 guy and 1 girl and the next highest vote getter from this week will for sure get through to the Top 12. If Stevie Wright doesn’t win this round she may be asked back to participate in the Wildcard round. In the Wildcard Round Stevie will have a second chance to make it to the Top 12. It is much harder than previous years to advance to the Top 12. We need to support Stevie.

As I am sure everyone knows Joanna Pacitti has been kicked off American Idol Season 8. Joanna did qualify for the top 36. However after the show it was released by FOX that she has been ruled ineligible and that she has been replaced by Felicia Barton. The reasoning being her past music career.
Of course this is a shock. I do question wether she should have been disqualified or not. There are several contestants who have had music careers (Matt Giraud - has released two albums and performs live music for money) (Adam Lambert has long been working professionally in musical theatre).

Here they are: The Top 36 contestants who will be on American Idol in Season 8. Any contestants who participated in a ’sing-off’ has the name of the contestant they competed against named as well.
Here they are:
1. Anoop Desai
2. Von Smith
3. Alex Wagner Trugman (He won a singoff against Cody Sheldon)
4. Adam Lambert
5. Taylor Vaifanua
6. Jasmine Murray
7. Arianna Afsar
8. Casey Carlson
9. Megan Corkrey
10. Mishavonna Henson
11. Stevie Wright
12. Joanna Pacitti Disqualified - Replaced with Felicia Barton
13. Kendall Beard
14. Kristen McNamara (She won a singoff against Jenn Korbee)
15. Alexis Grace
16. Scott MacIntyre
17. Lil Rounds
18. Jesse Langseth (She won a singoff against Frankie Jordan)
19. Allison Iraheta
20. Danny Gokey
21. Ricky Braddy
22. Matt Giraud
23. Ju’not Joyner
24. Jorge Nunez
25. Brent Keith Smith
26. Stephen Fowler
27. Nick Mitchell
28. Jackie Tohn
29. Tatiana Del Tora
30. Nathaniel Marshall (He won a singoff against Jackie Midkiff)
31. Jeanine Vailes
32. Kai Kalama
33. Anne Marie Boskovich
34. Kris Allen
35. Matt Breitzke (He had a singoff against Michael Sarver, but the judges kept them both)
36. Micheal Sarver (He had a singoff against Matt Breitzke, but the judges kept them both)
So, there we have it. Stevie Wright is 11th because that is the order in which we found out contestants got through. Not because she is currently placed 11th. I still can’t believe we saw ’sing-offs’ and a ‘judges mansion’ last night. The more I think about it the more it bugs me.
Anyway, Stevie Wright will perform next week along with Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Ricky Braddy, Anne Marie Boskovich, Brent Keith, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Tatiana Del Toro, Anoop Desai. Be sure to vote!

It is official! Stevie Wright made it to the Top 36 for Season 8. I don’t think any of us are really surprised, she deserves it. Stevie is a very talented singer. American Idol knows that.
Last nights show certainly wasn’t a typical American Idol show. We didn’t get to see any performances, so we obviously didn’t get to see Stevie Wright perform. Instead the show was a long drawn out announcement of the Top 36 for this Idol season.
Simon Cowell tells Stevie Wright she is through
The contestants were taken to ‘the judges mansion’ where they were put into a waiting room. They all waited there turn to go in and see Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi and they were told if they made it to the Top 36 or not. That would have been OK, but then some contestants had to do ’sing-offs’ where they had ’sing for their life’ against another contestant, and then one of them would go through and one wouldn’t??? I am sure they already knew who they were going to put through. I think that was for our benifit, but we definitely didn’t benifit. It was a little pathetic! You can’t base your decision on that. Real performers rehearse and practice what they are going to do. Everyone rehearsed and practiced for the auditions afterall. Besides they have countless hours of everyones performances that we never see. The judges should watch that if they were unsure, but I think we all know it was ’staged’.
That aside we can certainly be happy for Stevie Wright. Making it through to American Idols Top 36 is no surprise, but I am sure she feels a great sense of relief.
Stevie Wright finds out she is through
The good news is that we will get to see Stevie Wright perform again next week. The contestants have been divided up into 3 groups of 12.
Next week 12 performers will perform (including Stevie): Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Ricky Braddy, Anne Marie Boskovich, Brent Keith, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Stevie Wright, Danny Gokey, Tatiana Del Toro, Anoop Desai
I really might have spoken too soon in saying that I like the new format for American Idol Season 8. I want to see performances. I want to see Stevie Wright perform. I don’t want to see what I saw last night. This is a singing competition afterall. I definitely give American Idol two big thumbs down for last nights show. I would have been happier with a very quick announcement of who made the Top 36 then show me some performances.

Wow! That was a very exciting show! I really wish we got to see more of Stevie Wright, but at least we got to see a nice clip of her singing Bubbly, by Colbie Caillat. I think this is a great song choice for her. I love her voice! This might sound negative, but I really don’t mean it that way, she has a beautiful nasally voice. There have been many very famous female singers throughout the years who had great ‘nasally voices’. The first one that comes to mind is ‘Janis Joplin’.
We managed to catch a number of short comments by Stevie. The first one was while she was waiting in ‘the holding room’, and she said, ‘no one really knows what’s going to happen. It’s all in the hands of the judges’.
Stevie Wright in the waiting room
Some of the changes to American Idol Season 8 were definitely noticeable in last nights show. Contestants were placed in a holding room where they waited until they performed. After they performed the judges did not make a comment and the contestant was sent straight to room 1, 2, 3, or 4. From time to time throughout the show a contestant was told to switch rooms. At the end of the show room 3 was told to go home. I have to say I kind of like this new format. It was nice to see American Idol try something new.
The second comment we picked up from Stevie Wright was before her performance when she said, ‘If I just stay positive and I focus on what I’m supposed to be doing, I think that I’ll be OK!”. I think if you can do that you will be more that ‘OK’ Stevie.
Stevie Wright Singing Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
So tomorrow is a big day. Stevie is through and I hope we get to see her perform again on the show (you never know which ones they will show on TV). I love how no matter what she always has a big smile.

It’s not official, but the rumours are all over the place right now. They are going to announce on Feb. 11th. There is no doubt that she will be, but it is nice to hear her name being mentioned in all these rumours. I hate to say it, but the rumours about American Idol are usually true. Hopefully, the producers can control these leaks a little better in Season 8. Finally we’ll get to see her preform again. Good luck Stevie!!

GROUP NIGHT! It should be called, “Drama night”
Never a surprise to see cat-fights, back-stabbing, tears etc. That’s what American Idol group day is all about. Why would Season 8 be any different. I guess it should be taken as a complement that we didn’t get to see Stevie again. Second show in a row that we didn’t get to see her perform. It means she wasn’t involved in any of that garbage.
We were lucky enough to get to Stevie a couple times during the show. Every time the camera she had a huge smile. She looked to be one of the few contestants who seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Here she is getting breakfast. First time she was in the the cafeteria getting breakfast and she says, “I got 3 and a half hours sleep last night”. Good work ethic Stevie!
We saw her a couple times more once with her group backstage after Simon dropped the bomb to the Idol contestants by saying, “Forget the words, you’re out!”.
This is what Stevie had to say about that, “I’m scared to death’. Big smile though. Stevie and her Group
Next week we find out the top 36. Stevie will obviously get through and then we can finally get to see her perform again!
